The kayak
kayaking is practiced sitting down and using a double-ended paddle (2 blades), so the kayaker paddles on both sides. Kayaking can be practiced alone, or with 2 or 4 people in competition boats. The kayak was originally developed by the Inuit people of the Arctic region.
The canoe
Canoeing is practiced on the knees with a single-bladed paddle, and therefore paddling is from one side only. Canoeing is practiced alone or with 2 people. The canoe was originally developed by the native North Americans.
